Turkish exports rose by 49.27 percent in the first month of 2008 compared to January last year, with the total value of exports hitting to $9.8 billion, according to figures released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) Friday.
According to the TIM figures, which are not official, the 12-month export figures for Turkey as of the end of January had increased by 24.8 percent and totalled $109.1 billion The Turkish industrial sector was again the main driving force in exports, racking up $8.4 billion in overseas sales last month.
Of this, the automotive industry generated $2.1 billion in exports, followed by the ready-to-wear and apparel industry, which achieved $1.4 billion.
