ANKARA - A Turkish non-commissioned officer was wounded when a land mine planted by members of the terrorist group the PKK terrorists detonated in south eastern Turkey.

The blast occurred while squads from the paramilitary Gendarme were patrolling in the Akbal district of the province of Hakkari. According to officials, the mine was detonated by remote control.

The sergeant wounded in the blast has been hospitalised and is listed in a satisfactory condition.
