The MGK meeting, to be chaired by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, is expected to discuss border security and the continued presence of the terrorist group the PKK in northern Iraq as well as potential attacks in major cities.
Ankara is still holding talks with Baghdad and Washington on the possibility of setting up a buffer zone inside northern Iraq for its border security.
One other issue on the boards agenda are security measures to be taken for general elections to be held on July 22.
