Since Friday, units of the Turkish military, assisted by local militia, have been involved in a series of clashes with PKK guerrillas in the mountainous south eastern regions of the country.
Among those killed in the fighting were two soldiers and a village guard in the province of Sirnak and another solider who died after a mine was detonated in the eastern province of Bitlis.
Three more soldiers were killed in the Yayladag district of Bingol, the scene of large scale anti terror operations.
At least eight soldiers and one village guard were wounded in various clashes in the east and south east over the weekend.
