ADAPAZARI - Two people in the northwestern Turkish province of Adapazari narrowly escaped death when attacked by an angry crowd who attempted to lynch the pair Thursday.
A woman and a man who were hanging posters marking the anniversary of the death of a leftist leader were set upon in Adapazaris Cark Street were attacked the two activists and members of the crowd, which had grown to some 2000, tried to hang the pair.
The two, whose identity has not been revealed, escaped into a tea-house in a business mall and were taken out of the building by a police armoured vehicle.
After the police vehicle left the scene, the angry crowd marched to the building of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party and chanted nationalist slogans. Some members of the crowd entered the building, destroying furniture and burned the partys flag.
