According to reports carried by the Itar-Tass on Tuesday, Russian security intelligence said that they had had indisputable proof that the Chechens had received support and encouragement from these three countries.
The siege was ended by Russian security forces, though as many as 117 of the hostages died, many reportedly from the gas pumped into the building to subdue the terrorists.
The report said that the head of Russia’s International Military Co-operation Department, General Anatoli Mazurkeviç, is to meet with a European Parliamentarian Council delegation later on Tuesday and complain of what Russia sees as a double standard in west on combating terrorism. The general also expected to call on Denmark not to allow an International Chechen Congress to be held in their country.
